SUCCESS!

The event was a success! Thanks to all the artists who were generous enough to donate their work. A big thank you to everyone who showed up and donated goods for the art. We were blown away along with the Daily Planet by the amount of donations. Six van loads of good were dropped off to the daily planet today and everything will go to good use!
Check back soon to see art that can still be "purchased" (with donations)
And hopefully next fall for another Donations for Creations

Here we are with Maureen Neal from the Daily Planet with half of the donations!

Jessica Millete to Perform!

One of our good friends in the Graphic Design department at VCU has very sweet talents. Jessica Millete is a vocalist/pianist/guitarist from the 757 Tidewater Hampton Roads area of Virginia (Virginia Beach to be specific "SIM PHA SEM!"). She will be performing at the Donations For Creations, time TBA. Most likely between 5pm & 8pm. Don't want to miss her! Here's a little blurb she has on her Music MySpace page & and a link to it:

"I'm pretty focused on school right now.

I play guitar, piano, sing & write songs. I've been playing shows for a few years now so, if you want me to play one, I probably will. For more, visit my purevolume site, my soundclick account or my youtube."

Donated Art!

FIRST FRIDAY!

First Friday Art Walk was a blast. Big-ups to Rachel, Brandon, Sarah, David and special guest Tim, for holding it down outside 1708 Gallery despite the cold weather. We handed out lots of flyers, so the word is out! Don't forget to check earlier posts for list of donations.

More Information...

CALL FOR ARTISTS:

Art of any size and any medium can be donated. Art donations need to be donated to 1005 Grove Avenue on November 14th - 16th from 2-8pm. ***November 14th - 16th is just for ART donations. The actual event will be held on November 22nd. This is where we will be accepting donated goods***

FOR DONORS:

The Donations for Creations event will be held on November 22nd from 2-8pm at 1509 West Main Street.

Heres how it works...
Art will be traded for goods on a first come first serve basis. Size of donations will be decided by two / three event hosts at the entrance to the event. You will receive a color coded Donation Paper that correlates to the size of your donation. Find a piece of art that you like with the same color sticker as your Donation Paper and you can take that art home with you.

Any Questions: Post on the group wall or email us at donatecreate@gmail.com
Also check our blog (www.donatecreate.blogspot.com) for a list of suitable donations and updates.

Hope to see you at the event!
EVENT: Donations for Creations
November 22nd, Saturday
2:00pm – 8:00pm
1509 W. Main Street

Come bring donations of winter clothes and non-perishable food for the Daily Planet homeless aid provider, and exchange them for artwork from local artists and artisans.

Check our blog for a list of items the Daily Planet needs to aid people without a place to live this winter.

The more generous your donation, the more fabulous the art piece you can take home with you. Please come out and join together with Richmond's artists to promote art while helping the community.

If you can't make it to our event or would like to support the Daily Planet directly, you may do so here.
